WIC gives pregnant and postpartum women and children up to age 5 access to healthy food, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and community referrals. Families, including dads, grandparents, caregivers, and foster parents may enroll their eligible family members in WIC. Â
Food. Education. Support. You got this.
Healthy Food:Â Authorized foods include infant foods, iron-fortified cereal, fruits and vegetables, eggs, milk, cheese, peanut butter, whole wheat bread and other whole-grain options. Partially breastfed or non-breastfed infants may receive infant formula.
Breastfeeding Support: WIC recognizes breastfeeding as the optimal way to nourish infants. Support for mothers through classes, peer counseling, lactation support by an onsite consultant (IBCLC) is provided.For more information click here.

Nutrition Education:Â Clients, parents or their caregivers are offered education, as well as nutrition counseling services by a Registered Dietitian (RD)/RDN).
Care Beyond WIC: An added benefit of the WIC program is screening for other health concerns and referrals to appropriate health and social service agencies. Referrals may be for Medicaid, food stamps, immunizations, child health screening (EPSDT), family planning and more.

Michigan WIC Connect
Michigan WIC Connect offers existing clients the ability to view their available WIC food benefits, location of nearby grocery stores and upcoming WIC appointments on their mobile device. The app can also be used by people interested in the Michigan WIC program to help determine eligibility, schedule appointments or contact their local WIC agency to learn more about the program. Michigan WIC Connect is available for free in the App Store and Google Play.
