Children's Special Health Care Services
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
Children who have a medical condition that is chronic, disabling or terminal. Insurance coverage can start with birth and last to 21 years of age. Individuals with cystic fibrosis, clotting disorders like hemophilia, or sickle cell disease may be covered life long.
Medical specialist office or clinic visits, laboratory/diagnostic/x-ray exams, medical supplies and equipment, home care visits, OT/PT/Speech therapy, hospital inpatient, outpatient and surgery. Health department staff help with care coordination including referrals and advocacy.
Funded through the state and federal government. Families of all incomes are eligible, some families, based on their income pay a fee to join.
