MAN DIES FROM INJURIES IN CRASH WITH EMS AMBULANCE

 

(East China Township)  The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a Tri-Hospital EMS ambulance has died from injuries sustained in the crash.

 

According to accident investigators from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, 33 year old John Lynch of Marine City died early yesterday afternoon at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit.

 

Video downloaded from the ambulance showed that Lynch was driving northbound on River Road near Hathaway Road in East China Township shortly before 5:00 a.m.  Lynch’s vehicle, a 2003 GMC Envoy can be seen crossing the centerline of the road and striking the ambulance, which was southbound.

 

There were three people in the ambulance; the driver, a 33 year old man from Macomb Township, a 24 year old female paramedic who was in the jump seat in the rear of the unit and a 67 year old Port Huron Township woman who was being transported.  The EMS workers sustained minor injuries.  The woman being transported told deputies that she was not injured in the crash.

 

The Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.
