PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THERE IS A PHONE SCAM OCCURRING IN ST CLAIR COUNTY RELATED TO JURY SERVICE WHERE AN INDIVIDUAL IS CALLING PEOPLE AND TELLING THEM THAT THEY HAVE MISSED JURY SERVICE AND CAN PAY THEIR FINE OVER THE PHONE. PLEASE LET ANYONE YOU MAY HERE THIS FROM KNOW THAT THE CLERKS OFFICE DOES NOT CONTACT PEOPLE FOR SUCH AN ISSUE BY TELEPHONE AND IF NEED PLEASE CALL THE CLERK’S OFFICE DIRECT AT 810-985-2200.

The County Clerk is responsible for all vital statistic records: births, deaths, and marriages. Birth and Death Certificates date back to 1868 while marriages date back to 1839. The Clerk also issues concealed pistol licenses; and maintains all Circuit Court records. The County Clerk is also responsible for operating and canvassing all countywide elections.

Copies of vital records are $15.00 for the first copy, $6.00 for each additional copy of the same record.

NOTE: As of May 1, 2011 the County Clerk is no longer able to process passports.
